1st Annual Frighties Awards: VOTING CLOSED!

Updated: Dec 28, 2022

2022 has been a hell of a year for horror films, both from bigger studios and smaller independent productions. We had the return of horror legends like Ghostface, Leatherface and Michael Myers and also lesser known icons like Esther and Art the Clown. We saw a brand new (older version) of the Predator and a new, unique screen version of the Cenobites. 2022 also saw the return of some big name directors like David Cronenberg and Dario Argento as well as younger auteurs like Robert Eggers, Alex Garland and Jordan Peele cementing themselves as some of the most exciting filmmakers in cinema. Streaming services continue to grow from strength to strength in helping to produce and provide a necessary platform for indie horror films and shows and pseudo horror genre titles. Even Disney owned studios dipped their toes in the genre with Marvel's 'Doctor Strange' sequel and 'Werewolf by Night' and 'Barbarian', 'Prey' and 'Hellraiser'.

We're super excited to announce the 1st Annual Frighties Awards, which will be a recurring end-of-year award ceremony celebrating the best of the genre in various categories. Each nomination must be officially released in the UK in 2022 and we are including digital and streaming releases.

YOU CAN VOTE below right now in each category and votes will be tallied by the end of December. Winners will be announced on New Year's Day.

We appreciate your participation in the Frighties and going forward we want to hear from you so feel free to share this on your socials with all your horror pals.

[NOTE: This is all just meant to be a bit of fun. Please don't get your knickers in a twist over any of the nominations. Cheers 😂😂😂]
