At the start of December we asked you all to help us out and vote in our 4th Annual Frighties, our end-of-year horror film awards. We had 17 categories with 4 nominations in each category covering Best Film, Best Director, Best Scare, Best One Liner and Best Kill and we added 2 brand new categories this year with Best WTF Moment and Best Needle Drop.
As always the response was fantastic yet again. The Frighties just keep getting bigger and bigger every year. We couldn't do this without al of you so thank you so much for voting. We are very happy to announce the winners in each category below.

BEST DIRECTOR: Ryan Coogler (Sinners)
Other Nominees: Zach Cregger (Weapons), Robert Eggers (Nosferatu), Danny Boyle (28 Years Later)
BEST FILM: Sinners
Other Nominees: Nosferatu, Bring Her Back, Weapons
Ryan Coogler's unconvential vampire film dominated this year's nominations and won the Director vote with 53% and the Film vote with 67%. Zach Cregger and Weapons was a close second but just couldn't keep up.

BEST ACTRESS: Sally Hawkins (Bring Her Back)
Other Nominees: Sophie Thatcher (Companion), Julia Garner (Weapons), Tatiana Maslany (Keeper)
BEST ACTOR: Michael B. Jordan (Sinners)
Other Nominees: David Jonsson (The Long Walk), Ray Nicholson (Borderline), Theo James (The Monkey)
Michael B. Jordan stormed ahead early on and stayed out in front during the entire voting period. The Best Actress category was a bit closer. It was essentially a two horse race but Sally Hawkins just pipped Julia Garner ar the post with 40% of the votes.
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Amy Madigan (Weapons)
Other Nominees: Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners), Callina Liang (Presence), Madeleine McGraw (Black Phone 2)
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Ralph Fiennes (28 Years Later)
Other Nominees: Miles Caton (Sinners), Alden Ehrenreich (Weapons), John Lithgow (The Rule of Jenny Pen)
BEST WRITING: Ryan Coogler (Sinners)
Other Nominees: Zach Cregger (Weapons), Robert Eggers (Nosferatu), Danny Philippou & Bill Hinzman (Bring Her Back)
BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY: Autumn Durald Arkapaw (Sinners)
Other Nominees: Dan Lautsen (Frankenstein), Jarin Blaschke (Nosferatu), Steven Soderbergh (Presence)
This was such a tough category to call with all nominees being genuine winner material. It went back and forth a little bit between 'Frankenstein' and 'Sinners' with the latter just pipping thr former to the post by a measly 5% in the end. Both worthy winners of any of the big awards ceremonies coming up we hope.
BEST ORIGINAL SCORE: Die Hexen (Fréwaka)
Other Nominees: Alexandre Desplat (Frankenstein), Young Fathers (28 Years Later), Ludiwg Göransson (Sinners)
BEST MAKE-UP/SPECIAL EFFECTS: Nosferatu
Other Nominees: 28 Years Later, Bring Her Back, The Ugly Stepsister

BEST KILL: Sucked into the MRI (Final Destination: Bloodlines)
Other Nominees: Ricky and the Wasps (The Monkey), Uncle Chip's Stampede (The Monkey), Aunt Gladys vs the kids (Weapons)
BEST VILLAIN: Aunt Gladys (Weapons)
Other Nominees: Remmick (Sinners), The Grabber (Black Phone 2), Dave Crealy (The Rule of Jenny Pen)
BEST SCARE: Aunt Gladys Awakens (Weapons)
Other Nominees: Kidprint Videos (V/H/S/Halloween), Cornbread's Demise (Sinners), Face to Face with Spirits (Keeper)

Aunt Gladys takes both the Best Villain and Best Scare and deservedly so. Amy Madigan's performance as the ancient witch who captivated audiences is superb, so much so that Zach Cregger is working on a prequel spin-off for the character so we might see her nominated in future Frighties Awards
BEST ONE LINER: "“If I’m going out, I’m going out on these unsalted bitches.” (Final Destination: Bloodlines)
Other Nominees: "I think I shat myself" (Sinners), "The monkey that likes killing out family. It's back" (The Montkey), "Momento Amoris. Remember you must love" (28 Years Later)
BEST STREAMING/TV SHOW: Alien Earth
Other Nominees: Marvel Zombies, Haunted Hotel, The Creep Tapes
Let's be real here, nothing was gonna beat 'Alien: Earth' in this category. It won in a landslide. It was amazing to see the xenomorphs on the small screen this time and we're excited to see if a second season actually happens. Just for your information 'IT: Welcome to Derry' was ineligible because it hadn't completed it's run in time.
BEST NEEDLE DROP: Beware of Darkness - George Harrison (Weapons)
Other Nominees: Boy - Book of Love (Companion), Ghostbusters - Ray Parker Jr (The Conjuring: Last Rites), Heartbreaker - Pat Benatar (Night of the Reaper)
BEST WTF MOMENT: Alpha's Dong (28 Years Later)
Aunt Gladys' Chase (Weapons), Kid Eating Knife (Bring Her Back), Vampires Irish Dancing (Sinners)
Congratulations to all the winners and of course all the other nominees too. A massive thanks again to you all for participating. We couldn't do this without you and we hope to bring you another bunch of nominations celebrating the horror genre next December in our 5th Annual Frighties Awards. Happy New Year peeps and creeps!
